WyoCP's Rammell rides through Platte parade

The Wyoming Constitution Party boasted a great display in the Platte County Fair Parade on Saturday morning, Aug. 4, in Wheatland. An excellent crowd turned out for the whole length of the parade through the center of town.

Bill Hutchinson drove his vehicle with our CP banners and flags, Miriam Dapra and Chloe Butler walked with the banner, and CP gubernatorial candidate Rex Rammell followed on horseback. We all had fun interacting with the parade-goers and certainly reinforced Rex Rammell’s name in folks’ minds for the general election!

A Eulogy for John Roberts

Yesterday I received word that a “charter” member of the Constitution Party of Wyoming and of Platte County passed away.

John Roberts, a U.S. Navy veteran, security guard, truck driver, slaughter plant butcher, was not afraid to “get his hands dirty” and pitch in to help wherever and whenever he could.  It didn’t matter whether it was hot or cold, early or late, long days helping us to get the petition signatures so that we could obtain ballot access.  Helping to raise money for the county and state party, John Roberts was there.

John Roberts, gruff and rough around the edges, many times in a great deal of pain and ill, could always be counted on to help out.  No matter how hard the job.  He had grit, what I would call a “top hand”.

He was at our first meeting in Platte County in early 2011 and seldom missed a meeting up until this year when his health really began to fail.  His last meeting was April 12, 2018.  He was registered to be at this convention.

During the time I knew John, we became friends, traveling to gun shows together, talking guns, telling each other corny stories, and rooming together in Meeteetse, Wyoming.  It was that weekend where we bantered back and forth over my Colt’s revolver and his Glock pistol.  “Don’t you pack no ugly gun”, I would tell him and it would take off from there.  He talked about his favorite dog “Baby” who he would say, “She is not spoiled, because she doesn’t smell!”

We’d invite him over for holiday meals and if he, all of a sudden, couldn’t make it, he was respectful and would call us.  He’d be genuinely sorry.

I’ve not spoke on the most important part yet.  John and I also spoke on our relationships with the Lord.  When we were in Meeteetse, John attended church service with several of us, he sang, participated in The Lord’s Supper, and worshipped.  After John passed, his brother found a card in the pocket of John’s suit.  Yes, John owned a suit.  This card was important to him.  So important that he kept it in his only suit.  ‘Who then can be saved?’  Jesus looked at them and said, “For mortals it is impossible, but not for God; for God all things are possible.”  Mark 10:26-27.

John, we will miss you.  I will miss you.  There is going to be no funeral.  We pay this tribute to you, John.  (Navy song was played on a piano)

Gentlemen, attention to orders!  (TAPS was played on a tape recorder)
